Overview

During changing permissions for a File Server, access to the path \\SERVER\XYZ\.id.8MAN is denied with the error message shown below.

Cause

No .id.8MAN file could be found and cannot be created.
Access was denied to modify the .id.8MAN file.
Change account does not have write permissions to the id.8MAN file.

Resolution

Grant the change account permission to the related directory so it can write to the id.8MAN file.
We recommend to set Full control rights for the fileserver change account on the NTFS level of the data.
