Overview
In SolarWinds Platform (formerly Orion Platform) versions 2022.4 and later, customers may encounter a warning in Active Diagnostics (AD) stating that the SQL Server or database collation is not supported—even when using a supported collation such as Latin1_General_CI_AS. This warning is a false positive and does not impact the functionality or stability of the SolarWinds Platform. The issue has been observed across multiple environments and is confirmed to be cosmetic only.
SolarWinds Platform supports the following collation settings:
- English with collation setting
Latin1_General_CI_AS - English with collation setting
SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS - English with collation setting
SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CS_AS - German with collation setting
German_PhoneBook_CI_AS - Japanese with collation setting
Japanese_CI_AS - Simplified Chinese with collation setting
Chinese_PRC_CI_AS

Cause
The issue arises from a misalignment between the deployment validation logic and the expected collation data checks. This causes the deployment validation process to inconsistently verify supported collations, leading to incorrect warning messages during Active Diagnostics.
Resolution
- You can safely ignore these incorrect collation warnings in Active Diagnostics for now.
- Continue to use supported collations as documented.
- Monitor for updates from SolarWinds that address this validation logic in upcoming product versions.
