SAM application monitors return "timeout occurred during execution" messages after applying a Windows Update
This article discusses what to do if a 'A timeout occurred during execution which resulted in the job being cancelled' message appears for component monitors polling on behalf of a SAM application monitor after installing a Windows Update.

Overview
This article describes what to do if you deploy a Microsoft Windows Security update in your SAM environment, and then notice the following symptoms:
- SAM application monitors fail,
- The status of related component monitors that use SolarWinds Platform agents switch to Unknown, and
- The following message appears: A timeout occurred during execution which resulted in the job being cancelled

Cause
A security patch included in a Windows Update may have interrupted SolarWinds Platform agent polling.
Resolution
Repair the SolarWinds Platform agent software installed on affected servers
- Download the agent installer file on the web console under Settings > All Settings > Manage Agents > Download Agent Software
- Move the agent installer file locally to the affected servers
- Right-click > Properties > Unblock
- Right-click > Repair
- Follow on-screen instructions to finish repair
Note: Antivirus software installed on servers that host SolarWinds Platform agents can impact functionality.
