Park ipMonitor license when not in use

With ipMonitor, you can park your license for a period of time, and reactivate it at a later date. Parking your license allows you to:

  • Move your ipMonitor installation from one machine to another.
  • Take ipMonitor out of service for a period of time after it has been licensed.

This article refers to ipMonitor versions 9 and earlier.

Access the Parking your License page

To park your license, go to the Parking your License page.

  1. Click Start > All Programs > SolarWinds ipMonitor > Configure ipMonitor.
  2. Click Software Licensing.
  3. Click Park License.

Park your license on a computer connected to the Internet

  1. Select Communicate directly using the Internet, and then click Next.
  2. If you use an HTTPS proxy server, select the Force communications through an HTTPS Proxy Server option, and then enter the domain name or IP address and the TCP port.
  3. Click Next.
  4. In the Authentication Required window, enter your ipMonitor portal user name and password, and then click OK.
  5. Your license is parked.

Park your license on a computer with an indirect Internet connection

  1. Select Communicate indirectly, asking you to use your web browser, and then click Next.
  2. Click Send KillCode to SolarWinds.
  3. Log on to ipMonitor Support with your ipMonitor portal user name and password.
  4. Your license is parked.

Park your license without an Internet connection

  1. Select Communicate indirectly, asking you to use your web browser, and then click Next.
  2. Send or copy the file C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\ipMonitor\killcode.html to a computer with an Internet connection.
  3. With a web browser, view the killcode.html file on the computer with an Internet connection.
  4. Click Send KillCode to SolarWinds.
  5. Log on to ipMonitor Support with your ipMonitor portal user name and password.
  6. Your license is parked.

Verify that your license has been parked

  1. Log in to http://support.solarwinds.com with your SolarWinds account.
  2. Log in to http://support.solarwinds.com/support/ipmonitor.cfm with your ipMonitor accounIn the License Manager page, locate the license in the table, and then verify that its status is Parked.

 

WARNING! Do not manually delete your ipMonitor installation or reformat the ipMonitor host computer hard drive without first properly Parking your ipMonitor License. Using improper procedures to uninstall ipMonitor will result in the permanent destruction of your Licensing Key.
