Migrate ipMonitor from v9 to v10

Overview

This article provides steps to migrate ipMonitor from version 9 to version 10.

Environment

  • ipMonitor 9
  • ipMonitor 10

Steps

On the ipMonitor 9 system:

  1. Stop the ipMonitorSrv service.
  2. Copy the ipMonitor 9 installation directory to the new system.
    By default, this is c:\program files\solarwinds\ipMonitor\
  3. Start the ipMonitorSrv service.

On the new system:

  1. Delete -\ipMonitor\config\cred\credentials.db
  2. Download the full version of ipMonitor 10 from the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
  3. Install ipMonitor 10 on top of the copied directory.
  4. Apply your license when prompted.

Migrate your credentials:

  1. Log in to the ipMonitor 9 web interface.
  2. Click Configuration > Scheduled Maintenance Tasks > Recurring Internal Maintenance.
  3. Verify that the Archive ipMonitor Configuration option is selected.
  4. Verify that a backup credential is specified.
  5. Click Backup Now.
  6. Copy the backup file to the ipMonitor 10 system.
  7. Run -\ipMonitor\ipmrestore.exe, point it to the backup file an enter your backup credentials.
  8. Uninstall your ipMonitor 9 installation.
