Test Failed error when testing an SMS Alert in ipMonitor

Overview

When you test the settings of an SMS alert, you receive a Test Failed error.

Environment

All ipMonitor versions

Details

  1. Try communicating with the modem using HyperTerminal (hypertrm.exe).
  2. When prompted with Connect Using, select Com 13.
  3. When prompted for port settings, set the following fields to the same values specified within ipMonitor:
    • Bits per second: 9600
    • Data Bits: 8
    • Parity: None
  4. When you have a connection, run the following commands:
    • ATE1
    • AT+CMGF=1
    • AT+CMGS="1234567890" 
      where 1234567890 is the cell phone number. Be sure to include the double quotes.
      You should see a [ > ], which means it is waiting for text.
  5. Type the following and press Enter:
    Hello world
  6. Press Ctrl-Z to terminate the session.
  7. Verify that the message was received.
