Recover ipMonitor 10 in the event of a disaster

This article describes how to recovery your ipMonitor 10 installation if a disaster occurs.


ipMonitor 10


Perform the following procedures to recover your ipMonitor 10 installation. 

Download the software

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
  2. Download the latest ipMonitor 10 bundle

Back up your current configuration

  1. Stop the ipMonitorSrv service.
  2. Copy the ipMonitor installation directory to a backup location.
    This is typically located at C:\program files\SolarWinds\ipMonitor.
  3. Start the ipMonitorSrv service
  4. Log in to the ipMonitor web interface.
  5. Click the Configuration tab.
  6. Click Scheduled Maintenance Tasks > Recurring Internal Maintenance.
  7. Ensure that:
    • Archive ipMonitor Configuration is selected.
    • Backup Credential is specified within the Backup Credential box.
    • You have the password for this backup credential.
  8. Click Backup Now.
  9. Copy the backup file to the backup location.

Restore ipMonitor

  1. Copy the back up directory and backup file to the new system.
  2. Navigate to:
  3. Delete:
  4. Install ipMonitor 10 on top of the copied ipMonitor directory.
  5. Navigate to the ipMonitor directory.
  6. Click imprestore.exe and point to the backup file. 
    Your installation should be replicated with a trial license for 21 days and 1000 Monitors. Contact SolarWinds Customer Service to reset your license.
