Error displays after installing an ipMonitor evaluation

When you install an evaluation version of ipMonitor on your server, the following error message displays:

Error 1920. Service SolarWinds Discovery Service (SolarWinds Discovery Service) 
failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. 


  • ipMonitor 10.8.3 and higher
  • Windows Server 2012 R2


  • The server hosting ipMonitor requires Microsoft updates.
