Disable alerts in ipMonitor

Updated September 21, 2018

Overview

This article describes workaround steps on how to disable alerts in ipMonitor.

Environment

All ipMonitor versions

Workaround

At this time, there is no way to disable alerts other than clearing the following options within each action:

  • Send failure notification
  • Send recovery notification
  • Send information notification

Instead, SolarWinds recommends suspending or disabling the monitors that are failing. The following are other workaround options.

Remove the alerts

  1. Stop the ipMonitorSrv service.
  2. Move everything out of the following directory to a safe location:
    \ipmonitor\config\Alerts\
  3. Start the ipMonitorSrv service.

Add a failing monitor

Add a failing monitor as a dependency to the group that contains all of the monitors that are failing. As the dependency is down, the members will not trigger an alert.

Switch the alert

If the alert is for all monitors, switch it to Alert for Groups and Monitors that are not listed.
