Decrease timing settings for all ping monitors

Overview

This article describes how to mass-edit all Ping Monitors in order to decrease their timing settings.  This ensures that Ping Monitors will fail and alert before all other members.  As a result, all alerting from members will be suppressed, assuming the Ping monitor is set as a dependency. 

Environment

  • ipMonitor 9.x or greater
  • All operating systems.

Steps

  1. Go to Devices tab.
  2. Click "Edit -> Mass Edit -> Monitor Properties"
  3. Set values as follows:

 

-Start with: No Monitors

-SmartGroup Filter Rules:

i. Add Monitors where property "Type" (Object Type) Matches regular expression "ping"

-Replace Using Change Rules: 

i. Replace "Up" (Delays Between Tests While: Up) by "Overwrite".  Replace with "60" ***Or desired value

 

4. Click "Next"

5. Click "OK Make Changes".
