Updated September 21, 2018

Overview

This article describes how to edit all Ping Monitors to decrease their timing settings.  This ensures that ping monitors will fail and alert before all other members.

When you are finished, all alerting from members will be suppressed, assuming the ping monitor is set as a dependency.

Environment

  • ipMonitor 9.x or greater
  • All operating systems

Steps

  1. Log in to ipMonitor.
  2. Click the Devices tab.
  3. Click Edit and select Mass Edit > Monitor Properties.
  4. Select the following values:
    • Start with: No Monitors
    • SmartGroup Filter Rules: Add Monitors where property "Type" (Object Type) Matches regular expression "ping"
    • Replace Using Change Rules: Replace "Up" (Delays Between Tests While: Up) by "Overwrite".  Replace with "60" ***Or desired value
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click OK.
