Create backups for configuration and setting files in ipMonitor

Issue

Which configuration and settings files do I need to backup if I were to migrate my ipMonitor VM to another server.

Resolution

1. Login to the ipMonitor web console and click Configuration tab -> Scheduled Maintenance tasks -> Recurring Internal Maintenance -> Backup Now.

2. Enter a credential to encrypt the backup file with and then click Backup.

You will also need to backup historical statistics.

To backup the historical statistics, you will need to backup the folders called :

\dbtmp
\dbstore

which are located in the ipMonitor installation folder(default location : C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\ipMonitor).

Another method of ensuring that you have backed up all configuration, settings and historical ipMonitor data is simply to create a backup copy of the entire ipMonitor installation folder :

C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\ipMonitor\

This ensures that you can rebuild your previous installation without any data loss.
