Create SNMPv3 credentials in ipMonitor

Overview

This article describes how to add SNMP v3 credentials using the following methods:

  • New Device wizard
  • New Monitor wizard
  • SNMP-based monitor settings page

After you create a credential, you can modify it using the Credential List option in the Configuration tab.

Environment

  • ipMonitor version 10.8 or later
  • All versions of Windows
  • SNMP version 3

Steps

  1. Log in to the ipMonitor Web interface.
  2. Go to the Devices tab.
  3. Click Add Managed Devices.

New Device wizard

  1. Click Add > Add New Device.
  2. Set the SNMP version to SNMPv3.
  3. Click Select...  for SNMPv3 Credentials.
  4. Click New Credential.
  5. Go through the wizard to enter the required SNMPv3 authentication information.

New Monitor wizard

  1. Click the target device.

  2. Click Add > Add New Monitor.
  3. Click SNMP.
  4. Click the target monitor type.
  5. Set the SNMP version to SNMPv3.
  6. Click Select...  for SNMPv3 Credentials.
  7. Click New Credential.
  8. Go through the wizard to enter the required SNMPv3 authentication information.

SNMP-based monitor settings page

Use this procedure to modify an existing monitor.

  1. Click the device that contains the target monitor.
  2. Click the target SNMP-based monitor.
  3. Set the SNMP version to SNMPv3.
  4. Click Select... for SNMPv3 Credentials.
  5. Click New Credential.
  6. Go through the wizard to enter the required SNMPv3 authentication information.
