WPM error: The computer where the player is located uses an active proxy

Updated June 27, 2017

All WPM transactions fail on the same location on the first step and display the following error. Browsing to the website from IE is possible without an issue from the player machine.

Step 'Launch Website' failed Resource not found - The computer where this player is located uses an active proxy server; however, the recording being played back from it does not contain the required authentication. This may be the cause of the failed playback. To correct this, verify that this website is accessible from this player’s computer without proxy authentication, or, recreate the transaction with the correct authentication."

All WPM versions

This error occurs when there are proxy configuration and permissions issues.

  1. Determine if you have a proxy by running IE using the same user account you have configured the player to use.
  2. Browse in IE to the same website as the recording and verify that it cannot load the page or directs to a proxy page.
  3. If it fails, please contact your proxy administrator.
  4. See this article to configure WPM to use a proxy, and see this article for Domain Accounts that are authorized for the proxy.
