WPM Release Notes

Updated January 18, 2018

These release notes provide guidance for SolarWinds Web Performance Monitor (WPM) 2.2.1.

Note the following details about WPM 2.2.1:

  • WPM 2.2.1 requires SolarWinds NPM 12.1 or later. Be sure to upgrade NPM before upgrading to WPM 2.2.1.
  • If upgrading from an earlier version of Windows to Windows 10, SolarWinds recommends reinstalling the WPM Player and Recorder because Windows may overwrite existing registry entries. Click here for details.
  • See also WPM 2.2.1 System Requirements.

New Features and Improvements

WPM 2.2.1 is a service release containing three hotfixes, as described in the Fixed Issues section.

This version of WPM includes Application Stack, also known as AppStack, a term that describes the various layers that make up a complex application delivery infrastructure. The AppStack Environment view offers interactive visual mapping within the Orion Platform that provides an in-depth perspective through the entire environment to help identify the root cause of performance and availability issues.

Objects monitored in WPM are displayed in AppStack, as described next:

  • Integration with Orion Alerting

Create, view, and manage WPM-related alerts in the Orion Platform Alerting interface. Set warnings and custom timing thresholds for individual steps and entire transactions. Get notified automatically via SMS or email when a transaction fails.

  • Dependencies for Transaction Steps

Create dependencies between Transaction Steps and Nodes and Applications for fine-grained insight into your transactions.

  • The AppStack Environment Resource

The AppStack Environment resource is a tailored version of the full AppStack Environment view. It provides an in-depth map of all monitored objects that relate to the selected object whose details you are viewing. The information available is the same information available when you spotlight the object in the full AppStack Environment view.
