WPM 2.2.3 Release Notes

These release notes provide guidance for SolarWinds Web Performance Monitor (WPM) 2.2.3, an Orion Platform product that consumes Orion Platform 2018.4. See also WPM 2.2.3 System Requirements and the WPM Administrator Guide.

New features and improvements

In WPM 2.2.3, legacy reports were replaced by web-based reports that offer a flexible, intuitive way to extract and report collected data. You can build reports on-the-fly, save them, execute them manually, and schedule reports for delivery. >> Learn more

This release also includes several Orion Platform improvements, as summarized next.

New features and improvements in Orion Platform 2018.4

  • Centralized upgrades: Upgrade Additional Polling Engines, Additional Web Servers, and High Availability servers directly from the Orion Web Console. Upgrades run in parallel, reducing the time required to upgrade large deployments. >> Learn more
  • User authentication with the SAML protocol: Log into the Orion Web Console using Okta or Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) credentials. >> Learn more
  • Performance Analysis upgrades: PerfStack can transform line data to show different values instead of raw data.
  • Orion Diagnostics: Display and download diagnostics for polling engines with the Collect Diagnostics wizard. 
  • Support for Microsoft Server 2019.

New customer installation

To install WPM, review WPM 2.2.3 system requirements and use the SolarWinds Orion Installer, which you can download from the Product Downloads area of the SolarWinds Customer Portal

Before you upgrade 

If upgrading from a previous version of WPM, be aware of the following considerations:

  • To ensure a smooth upgrade, do the following:
    • Read these Release Notes.
    • Use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to direct your upgrade path and run preflight environment checks.
    • Make sure all servers comply with the WPM 2.2.3 System Requirements.

      Deprecation notice: Starting with Orion Platform 2018.4, Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 are not supported for the Orion server anymore. For the database server, SQL Server 2012, 2012 SP1, 2012 SP2, 2012 SP3, and 2012 SP4 are no longer supported.

    • Backup any custom code, such as changed SolarWinds .css files or added .js files. >> Learn More 
  • If upgrading from an earlier Windows version to Windows 10, SolarWinds recommends reinstalling the WPM Player and Recorder because Windows 10 may overwrite existing registry entries. Click here for details.
