Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when the playback misses the website menu bar selection that was part of the steps in the transaction.

After recording, the playback actually misses the website menu bar selection that was part of the steps in the transaction

Environment

All WPM versions

Cause

The menu during playback did not have enough time to load so the playback may click into the background instead of the menu. You may also want to change the step to XY capture mode.

Resolution

  1. Verify in the actions timeline to see if the step has a wait action at the end.

  2. Try adding a time wait for the step from 50ms to 1 second. The default timeout threshold for pages in a WPM transaction is 30 seconds. If you need to specify a longer time to wait, you can insert a Wait command before or after an action. These Wait times are not included in the recorded time for the transactions.

    a. Right-click on the action before or after which you want to insert a pause.

    b. Select Insert Wait above or Insert Wait below.

    c. Select the time to wait, and click OK.

  3. If you still have issues, you should try to use XY mode capture for the menu bar drop down. See here for more information on this. WPM XY Capture Mode
