WPM cannot match images

Updated November 8, 2018

You can configure SolarWinds WPM to perform image verification during a recording in X,Y Capture mode. If WPM cannot find the image during playback, the search is repeated until the defined time elapses.

If WPM cannot detect images on an Additional Polling Engine (APE) that hosts a WPM Player and the following exception error may appear:

Unexpected error occurred during image match operation.

System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'SolarWinds.SEUM.NativeImageProcessing.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

  • WPM 2.2.2

WPM is a 32-bit application so 64-bit machines require both Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable x86 and x64.

  1. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable x86 and x64 packages from the following links (© 2018 Microsoft Corp., obtained on September 12, 2018):
  2. Install Redistributable packages on the server that hosts the WPM Player:
    • For a 32-bit machines, install only vc_redist.x86.exe.
    • For a 64-bit machines, install both vc_redist.x86.exe and vc_redist.x64.exe.
  3. Restart the WPM Player service.
  4. Run the WPM Recorder.
  5. Playback the original transaction to confirm that WPM can detect the image.

Note the following limitations about matching images in X,Y Capture Mode:

  • Using Image Match for animated objects is not recommended. During playback, animated objects may be in a different phase of animation so WPM may not be able to find the exact recorded image.
  • Image Match is CPU intensive. Select only small regions of the image to improve playback performance.
  • Do not use the recorder on screen resolutions greater than 1920 x 1200 pixels as OS limitations do not allow the WPM Player to function above this resolution.
  • If image matching continues to fail, try the following:
    • Examine the screenshot page to see if the image is present on the page.
    • Ensure that the same browser version is used for recording and playback.
