WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

This article provides brief information on WPM not supporting monitoring transactions that open a new window.  In some cases the WPM Recorder may crash when attempting to navigate between new windows that have opened.

WPM is currently designed to monitor transactions occurring within a single window.

Environment

WPM version 2.2.1 or earlier

Detail

There are three ways to avoid this issue:

  • Adjust the transaction to monitor only the steps before a new window is opened.
  • Record the actions using direct URLs in the URL field in the Recorder, only using URLs which don't open new windows. Depending on the site this may not be possible.
  • If you own the website, you may be able to re-design the page so the actions you need to monitor can be completed within the same window.
