Sophos database connector using TCP/IP port

Sophos Anti-Virus Database connector TCP/IP ports.

Most Sophos Management environments use SQL Express.


  • All NPM versions
  • SQL Express or full version on SQL.



  1. Open SQL Server  Configuration Tools (download and install from Microsoft if not present).
  2. Open SQL Server Configuration Manager.
  3. Select SQL Server Network Configuration.

  4. Open Protocols for SQLExpress.

  5. Right click TCP/IP and select Properties.

  6. Scroll down to IPAll make sure TCP Dynamic Ports is blank and that TCP Port is set to 1346 (not the standard port 1433).

  7. Select OK to save the configuration changes.
  8. Make sure that port: 1346 is enabled on your firewall.
  9. Test with "telnet <localhost> 1346" on the Sophos Management server.
    May need to verify using the hostname or IP-address from another computer as well.
