SEUM may not correctly handle redirects from the first URL page

Updated February 13, 2018

Overview

Some websites have an initial page load, which then redirects to a login page. SEUM may not correctly handle redirects from the first page and may not record the first URL.

Environment

  • WPM, all versions

Resolution

To work around this issue, add another page with a simple link to the required URL.

  1. Create a dummy web page with a single link on it to the initial page. The dummy page needs to be accessible from the players, either on the web server itself or locally on the player. (If the page is created on the player, you need a copy of the dummy file on each player that would playback this file.)

For example, the URL for a local file would look like this:

    file:///C:/temp/dummy.html
  2. Next, create a recording that would go to this dummy page first and then click on the link to the initial page.

This allows SEUM to handle the redirect correctly after the first navigation.
