Error When Configuring Domain Accounts in WPM: Unable to connect to domain

This article details a resolution to the issue that occurs when configuring domain accounts on a WPM player location and you receive the following error message:

Unable to connect to domain 'XXXXXXXXXXXXX'. Error message: The user name or password is incorrect.

This is caused when configuring domain accounts for worker processes and you are logged into the WPM player location as a local administrator.


Domain accounts for worker processes need to be configured while logged in as Active Directory user. You cannot configure domain accounts using the SolarWinds.SEUM.AgentDomainConfigurationTool if you're logged in as a local administrator on the WPM player location.


To resolve, try ONE of the following resolutions: 

  • Log out of your RDP session on the WPM player server and log back in as a valid AD user.
  • OR, Shift + Right-click the SolarWinds.SEUM.AgentDomainConfigurationTool and 'Run as a different user' and use a valid AD user.
