The following error occurs when clicking Setup > Techs:

Environment

WHD 12.3.0

Cause 

One or more client_id parameters have client_type set to NULL rather than 1 or 2 (Admin or Tech).

Resolution

 

  1. Log in to the Web Help Desk server as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to the WebHelpDesk directory.
    - Apple® OS X®:  /Library/WebHelpDesk    
    - Microsoft® Windows®:  \Program Files\WebHelpDesk    
    - Linux: /usr/local/webhelpdesk
  3. Open the \bin folder and double-click pgAdmin3.exe to display the pgAdmin III console. 
  4. Open the Object browser for your WHD database.
  5. Click SQL.
  6. Run the following query. Press F5 to execute.
    select client_id, first_name, last_name, user_name, inactive, deleted, seat_type, client_type from tech
    where client_type is NULL
    order by client_id
  7. Locate client_type parameters set to NULL.
  8. Update the client_type parameters set to NULL to the correct type.
