Overview

Web Help Desk PostgreSQL Embedded Database service fails to start.

This means that Web Help Desk is unable to connect to the database and displays the initial setup pages normally seen after a Web Help Desk installation.

Manually starting the service in Windows Services results in the following error message:

Error 193: 0xc1

Environment

WHD v12.3.0

Cause

There is a file in the root of drive C:\ called Program - C:\Program.

This causes a conflict in starting some services.

Resolution

  1. Rename or remove the file "C:\Program"
  2. Restart the Server to ensure all services will run correctly after removing/renaming the file.

See There is a file or folder called "c:\Program" which could cause certain applications to not function correctly. Renaming it to "c:\Program1" would solve this problem, for more information about this issue.
