Unable to connect to Exchange Web Services (EWS) when SSL is enabled

Overview

Exchange Web Services (EWS) is unable to connect to the mail server when SSL is enabled while configuring the incoming email account in Web Help Desk and displays the following error:

Can't Connect to mail.domain.com

Environment

All WHD versions

Cause

This can occur when the security certificate has not been added to the local Java's trusted certificates.

Resolution

Add your security certificate (self-signed or CA-issued) to the local Java's trusted certificates. Refer to Adding a Certificate Authority to Embedded Java CA Cert Keystore
