Set Web Help Desk's DNS Name field to be a DNS name or public IP address that can be reached by sytems both inside and outside of your local network. If you are using the default port, you may need to change your port.

To make your Web Help Desk installation available over private and public networks:

  1. Navigate to Setup > General > Options.
  2. In the DNS Name field, enter a DNS name or public IP address that can be reached by systems both inside and outside of your local network.

If you are using the default port, you may need to change the port Web Help Desk listens to.

To change the port the Web Help Desk listens to:

  1. Modify the DEFAULT_PORT setting in </conf/whd.conf.
  2. Save your changes to whd.config.
  3. Restart the Web Help Desk application.
