This article describes how to schedule a nightly restart to clear the JVM Heap Memory for Web Help Desk on Windows.

  • Windows Server 2008 and later

  1. Locate and open the Task Scheduler.
  2. Navigate to Action > Create a Basic Task to start the Create a Basic Task Wizard.
  3. Create a descriptive task name (such as Restart WebHelpDesk), and click Next.
  4. Select Daily and click Next.
  5. Select a Start date and time.
  6. Define how often the restart should occur, and click Next.
  7. Select Start a program and click Next.
  8. In the Program/script field, enter net.
  9. In the Add arguments field, enter stop webhelpdesk.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Review the task description, and then click Finish. .

To create a second scheduled task to restart WHD, follow the same steps listed above.

Schedule the start at least one minute later than the stop command to ensure that the service has completely stopped before attempting to restart.
