Steps

WARNING:I would recommend before attempting to do any migration to make sure to back up your database and your WebHelpDesk\Conf folder.

1. On the current installation, stop the WHD service.
    a. Click Start > All Programs > Web Help Desk > Stop Web Help Desk.
    b. Right-click Run as administrator on Windows 2008.
2. Copy the WebHelpDesk\Conf folder to a safe location.
3. Install a fresh version of WHD on to the new server using these instructions:     http://docs.webhelpdesk.com/s/library/m/5197/l/50291?resolve=true
4. On the new installation, stop the WHD service.
    a. Go to Start > All Programs > Web Help Desk > Stop Web Help Desk.
    b. Right-click Run as administrator on Windows 2008.
5. Replace the following files from the configuration directory backup to the configuration directory in the new installation. If you are changing the location of your DB, you may want to change the connection settings you have when starting up the new installation:

  • whd.properties (DB connection settings)
  • whd.conf (port and memory settings)
  • keystore.jks (SSL Certificate if any)

6. Start the Web Help Desk application. Right-click Run as administrator on Windows 2008 and update the database version if necessary.
