Migrate FrontBase DB from one OS to PostgreSQL DB to another OS

  1. Do an upgrade on the original system (e.g. some Windows Server or Mac OS with embedded FrontBase DB)
  2. Run the DB migration during upgrade process
  3. Finish upgrade process – the new version of WHD v12.0 should use embedded PostgreSQL DB 
  4. Now, stop WHD Application
  5. Backup database on the original server (e.g. using PGAdmin tool or PostgreSQL commands http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/static/backup.html)
  6. Install/Deploy WHD v12 on the other system
  7. Go through Getting Started Wizard, choose embedded DB (default PostgreSQL)
  8. Once finished, stop PostgreSQL DB
  9. Restore database from the original server to new server (again using PGAdmin tool)
  10. Start DB on the new server
  11. Open WHD in browser
  12. If the Domain name of the new server is different to the domain name of original server, navigate to Setup -> General -> Options and change Server DNS Name.
