Web Help Desk cannot access the Web service on OS X Mountain Lion server

Overview

Web Help Desk (WHD) is unable to use port 80 to access normal Web service when running on OS X Mountain Lion Server.

Environment

All WHD versions

Cause

The Web Services controls are no longer available in OS X Mountain Lion.

Resolution

Perform either one of the following procedures:

  • Run the following command to stop Apache services or use the OS X Mountain Lion Server's application to turn off Web Services:
    sudo apachectl stop
  • Run the following command to disable Apache on server startup such that WHD can continue to run on port 80 even after restarting the server:
    sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist
