Table of contents

Updated June 20, 2017

Overview

A vulnerability in the WHD Virtual Appliance allows a remote attacker to authenticate and log in to the system as a root user on Internet-facing servers in unsecured networks. Due to this issue, the WHD Virtual appliance installer is no longer available in the SolarWinds Customer Portal as of June 10, 2017.

Environment

All WHD VA versions

Detail

A workaround is available to migrate an existing WHD VA database (embedded PostgreSQL) to another Linux or Windows system. After the migration, proceed with the in-place upgrade to the latest WHD versions (12.5.1).

See Migrate the WHD virtual appliance VA to Linux or Windows for more details.
