iCal and Outlook 2007 both support subscriptions over https. But since OS X and Windows are not set up to hand off https:// URLs to the calendar application, you must configure the subscription manually.

For iCal only:

  1. In iCal, right-click Subscription and select Copy Link Location.

  2. Create a new subscribed calendar and paste the link location into the https:// subscription URL in the provided field.

For iCal and Outlook 2007 and later:

  1. In iCal, right-click Subscription and select Copy Link Location as described in the previous process description.
  2. Paste the link location into the address bar of your web browser.
Note: You must use Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Internet Explorer does not work for this procedure.
  3. Change the protocol in the URL from https:// to webcals:// and press Return.  This action sends the request to Outlook, where it can confirm your subscription request.
