New asset custom field does not display for existing assets in WHD

Overview

After you add a new asset custom field, the field displays when you create a new asset but does not display in the Asset Details tab of your existing assets.

Environment

  • All WHD versions

Cause 

The asset's categorized asset type is not configured to display the new custom field.

Resolution

  1. Log in to Web Help Desk as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to Setup > Assets > Types.
  3. In the Asset Type Name column, click an asset type.
  4. In Selected Custom Fields, click the check box next to your new asset custom field.
  5. Click Save.
