How to update the nightly restart LaunchDaemon on OS X

Overview

Starting in OS X 10.1.7 (Lion), Web Help Desk automatically installs a launchDaemon that restarts the application at 1 AM each night. To change the restart time of the launchDaemon, follow the steps in this article. 

Environment

  • All Web Help Desk versions
  • OS X 10.1.7 (Lion) and later

Steps

  1. Log in to your Web Help Desk server.
  2. Open the following file in a text editor:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macsdesign.WebHelpDeskAutoRestart.plist
  3. In the file, change the hour or minute values to match your desired restart time.
  4. Unload/load the file to use the settings.
    Execute:
    sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macsdesign.WebHelpDeskAutoRestart.plist
    sudo launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.macsdesign.WebHelpDeskAutoRestart.plist
