Define a child asset and link it to a parent

Table of contents

Overview

A software asset can also be defined like any other asset. However, because a software is typically installed on one or more computers, you will want to define the software asset as a child type and link it to one or more parent hardware assets.

Environment

All WHD versions

Detail

Note: The asset must be saved before the type can be changed from parent to child.
If child software asset supports multiple seats or installs, they can be defined as a Multi-Install and the Install count can be specified.  As you link the child to parent assets, the install count is automatically updated. You must link the child asset to at least one parent asset in order to save the changes.
