Asset multi-install/install count

Table of contents

Updated October 19, 2016

Overview

This article explains steps you need to do prior to using the multi install feature for software licenses.

Environment

All WHD versions

Steps

  1. You will need a Parent Asset which will be, for example, a desktop or laptop.
  2. Create a Child Asset which will be, for example, a software license.
  3. When an asset is changed to a child, the multi-install option will appear. Select this and the Install Count option will appear. Set this to the number of installs available.
  4. In the Child Asset, you can search for the Parent Asset to assign the child to and this will remove one of the installs from the count.

Note: Be careful to not go over this count as you can assign the Multi-Install Asset over the install count. It will display a minus count for the number of Installs Available to show you that you have gone over your limit but there is no pop up telling you that you have exceeded your install limit.
