After installing Web Helpdesk, the browser shows a 404 error when connecting to the site using the following format:






All WHD versions running on Linux


The error occurs when the hostname is not correctly assigned to the server.


1. Connect SSH to the VA using PuTTY (or any SSH Client).
2. Enter sudo su - to switch to user root.

3. Enter hostname to verify the actual hostname of the server.

4. Enter vi /etc/hoststo edit or check the host file if it has the same assigned hostname.

5. Replace/Edit the host file to reflect the correct hostname and ip address.

     Press the letter A, to edit

     Shift + zz to save and quit the editor when done with the changes

6. Restart the Web Helpdesk service.

To stop, enter: service webhelpdesk stop

To start, enter: service webhelpdesk start
