Database error when deleting a Tech Group

Overview

When you try to delete a tech group from a report, the following error message displays

"Problem deleting the Tech Group: com.webobjects.eoaccess.EOGeneralAdaptorException: EvaluateExpression failed: : Next exception:SQL State:23000 -- error code: 547 -- msg: The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint "REPORT_GROUP_TECH_GROUP_techGroup_FK". The conflict occurred in database "whd", table "dbo.REPORT_GROUP_TECH_GROUP", column 'TECH_GROUP_ID'."

Environment

  • All versions of WHD
  • All versions of Windows
  • All versions of Linux
  • All versions of Mac OS X

Cause 

A tech group is assigned to one or more report groups. 

Resolution

  1. Log in to Web Help Desk as an administrator.
  2. Click Reports > Report Groups. 
    Each group name (such as Sample Reports) display. The Access column displays the assigned groups that can access the report.
  3. Edit the groups that have the tech group you want to delete, especially those groups assigned to Tech Groups: All. 
  4. Choose Specific Groups only to remove the Tech Group that you want to delete.
  5. After you remove the tech group from the report groups, log out.
  6. Log back in and try deleting the tech group.
