Overview

An error message occurred when creating a database backup from the Web Help Desk Console. 

Backup command returned exit code 1:

pg_dump: [archiver (db)] connection to database "<database name>" failed: could not 
connect to server: Connection refused
Is the server running on host "127.0.0.1" and accepting 
TCP/IP connections on port 5432?

Environment

All WHD versions with Embedded PostgreSQL database

Cause 

The port number specified from the .whd.properties file is incorrect. 

Resolution

  1. Open the .whd.properties file inside \<WebHelpDesk>\conf\.
  2. Change the whd.db.port value to 20293.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Restart the WHD Service.
