Overview

The following error message appears when you access the SolarWinds Web Help Desk console:

403 Forbidden Error

Environment

All SolarWinds Web Help Desk versions

Resolution

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Web Help Desk server as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate WebHelpDesk home directory.
    • Mac OS: Library\WebHelpDesk\conf\
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\WebHelpDesk\conf\
    • Linux: /usr/local/WebHelpDesk/conf
  3. Open the whd.conf file in a text editor (such as Notepad).
  4. Locate the DEFAULT_PORT or HTTPS_PORT value.
  5. Verify that a conflict does not exist with the port value.
    1. Open a command prompt as an administrator.
    2. Enter netstat -aon.
    3. Confirm that no other applications are using the port.
If a conflict exists, change the DEFAULT_PORT or HTTPS_PORT value to an unused port.
  6. Check the server firewall to verify that the SolarWinds Web Help Desk port is open.
