These release notes provide additional guidance for SolarWinds VoIP and Network Quality Manager (VNQM) v4.2.2.

VoIP and Network Quality Manager offers extensive monitoring capabilities, presenting detailed real-time and historical statistics, for devices on your network.

Notes

  • If you are installing VoIP and Network Quality Manager v4.2.2 with SolarWinds NPM, you must install NPM version 11.5.2 or later.
  • You can upgrade to VoIP and Network Quality Manager v4.2.2 from version 4.1 and above. If you are using IP SLA Manager 3.5.1, you must first upgrade to version 4.1, and then upgrade to version 4.2.2. For more information about the compatibility of SolarWinds Orion products for installation and upgrade, see this KB article.
  • SolarWinds no longer supports Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.
  • SolarWinds no longer supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, Standard, or Enterprise.

New Features and Improvements in VNQM 4.2.2

VoIP and Network Quality Manager version 4.2.2 includes the following new features and improvements:

VNQM 4.2.2 uses Orion Platform version 2015.1.2.

Important: As of Orion Platform version 2015.1, alerts are no longer created with the desktop-based, Advanced Alerts Manager or Basic Alerts Manager. Alerts are instead created and managed in the SolarWinds Orion Web Console. For detailed information, see Creating and Managing Alerts.

New Features and Improvements in VNQM 4.2

VoIP and Network Quality Manager version 4.2 includes the following new features and improvements:

  • Support for Avaya Communication and Media Servers
    • Call quality monitoring for Avaya
    • Advanced search for call records data
    • Alerting on MOS, jitter, and packet loss data, codec or termination codes
  • Supported Devices
    • Support for the following Avaya Communication and Media Servers: S87xx, S88xx, and S83xx
      Note: Ports 50000 and 5005 must be available in order to access CDR and CQR data from Avaya Communications and Media Servers.
    • Support for Cisco CallManager version 10

    • Easier search for phones and extensions on a call manager

PIN authentication is not supported, and it must be disabled on the Avaya console. -
The number of CPUs is displayed as zero for Avaya call managers on the Node details resource. -
For Avaya call managers, only the call type is shown in the VoIP Call Signaling resource. -
Avaya survivable (high availability) mode is not supported. -
When managing operations, results grouped by status are not shown. Grouping results by other options works correctly. -
