The target node in IPSLA operation shows IP address instead of host name

Updated December 7, 2017

Overview

This article explains why the target node in IPSLA operation shows an IP address instead of a host name.

Environment

  • All versions of VNQM

Cause

This happens when the IPSLA target node is not being monitored as an IPSLA node, even though it is already monitored in NPM.

Resolution

Make sure that the target node is added as an IPSLA node, having it monitored in NPM will not display its host name.
