Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the issue when the configuration wizard hangs with the following error message: Updating Orion database.ProcessingVoIPDatabaseScheme.db config file.

Environment

All VNQM versions

Cause

In this instance the issue was attributed to huge VoIP tables, namely: VoipOperationResultsDetail.

The reason this table was so big was that the polling frequency for the IP SLA operations was set very low, 10 seconds [default is 300 seconds] and also the retention setting was set very high.

Name

Value Default Value
IpSlaDataRetentionDays  180      90
IpSlaDaysToRetainDetailed      60         7
IpSlaDaysToRetainHourly         91         30

Resolution

  1. Increase the polling frequency to default.
  2. Reduce retention settings to default.
