VMan error: No permission to collect files for N Datastores

Overview

The following error appears when executing the Configuration Job in Virtualization Manager:

Common Error result:

No permission to collect files for N Datastores

Environment

All VMan versions

Cause 

The credentials set for a vCenter or ESX server does not have the Browse Datastore role/privilege

Resolution

  1. Follow the VMware KB article on how to address the error Users no longer have permission to browse datastore after upgrading to vCenter Server 4.0. (© 2017 VMware, Inc., available at https://kb.vmware.com, obtained on April 7th, 2017.)
  2. Rerun the Configuration Collection Job on the VMan and wait for it to complete to verify that the status turns from yellow to green.
