Document the details of virtualization entities

Use notes to document details of VMs, hosts, clusters, datastores, and applications that cannot be documented in other ways. By using notes, you can capture the reason why something changed, as opposed to the what, when, and how of changes.

Add notes to objects

  1. Select one or more objects on the search results page, the active list, or the configuration item view.
  2. Click Add Note.
  3. Provide the required information, and click Save.

View notes already added to objects

  1. Select one or more objects on the search results page or the active list.
  2. Click View Notes.

The results provide details about each note, when it was created, who created it, and to which entity it applies. You can also get a link to a note, and provide additional comments on a note.
