These release notes provide guidance for SolarWinds Virtualization Manager v6.2 Release.

You can no longer upgrade on Windows. All versions prior to v6.0 and all Windows versions of Virtualization Manager have entered the End-Of-Life (EOL) cycle. View the SolarWinds EOL Policy online.

To determine the correct upgrade path you need to follow, see this KB article.

As of SolarWinds Virtualization Manager v6.2, the license you have to apply to your product consists of two parts. For detailed instructions about applying the license, see the License Management in Virtualization Manager version 6.2 KB article.

As of SolarWinds Virtualization Manager v6.2, data collection through SSH is removed. Instead of SSH data collection, use the per virtual disk graphs. For the list of graphs that are affected by the removal of SSH data collection, see this KB article.

Upgrading your Virtualization Manager Appliance

You can upgrade to Virtualization Manager v6.2 from Virtualization Manager v6.0 or later.

New Features and Improvements

SolarWinds Virtualization Manager v6.2 and Integrated Virtual Infrastructure Monitor (IVIM) 2.0 include the following new features and improvements:

  • Standalone Virtualization module on the Orion platform.
  • AppStack Environment view in the Orion web console, providing visibility into the relations existing between the different entities on your network.

The AppStack Environment view is available in the following versions of Orion platform products:

  • Better visibility into the storage infrastructure in the Orion web console through the integration with Storage Resource Monitor.
  • Enhanced integration between Virtualization Manager and IVIM.
  • Ability to perform virtualization power and snapshot management actions directly from the Orion web console.
  • Ability to monitor the hardware health of nodes in the Orion web console.
  • New virtualization resources in IVIM.
  • Improved indication of virtual machine statuses in the Orion web console.
  • New setting to control the content creation rights of non-administrator users.
  • New virtualization alert and IVIM resource utilizing the co-stop counter information of VMware VMs, available for API version 5.0 and later.
  • Support for the vCenter Server Appliance.
  • Support for IPv6 addresses on the Virtualization Manager user interface.
