To start monitoring, you'll add a vCenter or HyperV host as a node in the Orion Web Console. The steps are slightly different for each.

Add a vCenter server

Add a HyperV host

  • Do Not use Discovery Central or Discover Network options to add vCenters or Hyper-V clusters to VMAN. Only use the Add Node option in the Orion Web Console.
  • Do not use the Setup Virtualization Manager Integration wizard. This step is not necessary for VMAN 8.0 and later.

Add a vCenter server

  1. Click Settings > All Settings > Add Node.

  2. Enter the host name or IP address of the vCenter server in the Polling Hostname or IP Address field.
  3. Under Polling Method, select Status Only: ICMP.
  4. Select the checkbox for Poll for VMware.
  5. Enter your vCenter credentials in the vCenter or ESX credentials field.

  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Add Node.

As soon as you've finished adding the vCenter server, VMAN begins monitoring the vCenter and all the virtual machines managed by the vCenter.

Add a HyperV host

  1. Click Settings > All Settings > Add Node.
  2. Enter the host name or IP address of the HyperV host in the Polling Hostname or IP Address field.
  3. Under Polling Method, select Windows Servers: WMI and ICMP.
  4. Enter your credentials.

    File:Success_Center/Reusable_content_-_InfoDev/VMAN/VMAN_8.1_Admin_Guide/0010-Monitoring_virtual_environments_with_VMAN/0010-Add_and_manage_virtual_systems_to_monitor/0010-Adding_virtual_servers_to_monitor/Step_3_843x832.jpg

  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Add Node.

As soon as you've finished adding the HyperV host, VMAN begins monitoring the HyperV host.
