You can forecast when you will run out of resources based on how your environment has grown historically.

The calculations check the historical trends, and project when one of these values will reach 100%:

  • CPU utilization
  • Memory utilization
  • Disk space consumption and disk IOPs
  • Network consumption

100% is the default outage threshold. For information about customizing warning and outage thresholds, see Customize capacity planning calculations.

View historic resource usage and outage dates

  1. Load a resource container. The hosts or clusters within the container will be considered in the calculation of when you reach the outage thresholds.
  2. Click Calculate.
  3. When the calculation is complete, click Consumption.

The utilization graph shows the actual consumed capacity of the resources.

The consumption view shows the historic values, a best fit line, and the calculated dates when the resources will reach the warning and outage thresholds, based on the historical trends.
