Overview

This articles discusses how to configure VMan to send an e-mail alert during a failed data collection.

Environment

All VMan versions

Steps

  1. Use the following query to search for hosts which does not have new performance samples in more than 10 minutes.
    host.perfDate:([* TO now-10minutes])
  2. Create an alert based on the above query.
To send an alert on missed configuration jobs, use host.timestamp:([* TO now-12hours]). A notification to the alert to get an email can also be added.
  3. This will alert all hosts.

Note: This is not applicable to vCenter. You can resolve the issues in vCenter through Setup > Configuration summary.
