Virtualization tab missing after upgrading to VMAN 8.2 RC

Overview

This issue is not present in VMAN 8.2's regular GA release. However, if you upgraded to VMAN 8.2 RC, upgrading again to VMAN 8.2 GA won't solve the issue. Follow the steps in this article to resolve to the issue manually.

After upgrading to Virtualization Manager (VMAN) 8.2 RC, the Virtualization tab disappeared and the settings at Virtual Settings > Settings/Product Specific Settings disappeared. When you open the Virtual Infrastructure Monitor (VIM) Summary view, the following error is displayed:

Unexpected Website Error: The given key was not present in the dictionary.

Environment

  • VMAN 8.2 RC

Cause 

Packaging error. The OrionWeb.log file includes exceptions regarding missing VIM strings, resources, and views. This may indicate an error in packaging. 

Resolution

Run the Configuration Wizard. 

  1. Navigate to:

    c:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\Packaging\Active\

    The Active directory includes two directories and one file.

  2. Delete the file and both directories.
  3. Run the Configuration Wizard.
  4. In the wizard, ensure that the Website, Services, and Database checkboxes are selected.
  5. Complete the Wizard.
